Liquid nitrogen carries three risks that you manage with the right tools and protection. First, extreme cold: direct contact with LN2 or with chilled metal causes freezing of the skin and eyes. Second, splashing: when pouring or filling, LN2 can splash, which makes a splash screen, face protection and an apron necessary. Third, oxygen displacement: evaporating nitrogen can lower the oxygen level in an enclosed space, so good ventilation and monitoring are important.
