What is a Class II biological safety cabinet?

A biological safety cabinet Class II is an enclosed, ventilated workbench that protects the operator, the product and the environment from exposure to biological agents. The operating principle relies on an air curtain at the front opening: incoming air forms a barrier that captures aerosols and protects the operator. Part of the air recirculates through HEPA H14 filters, while both the supply and exhaust air are cleaned by HEPA filters. This keeps the work surface free of particles and prevents cross-contamination. This microbiological safety cabinet is ideally suited to BSL-2 work, cell culture, pharmacy and routine microbiology.

Standards: EN 12469 and NSF/ANSI 49

Difference from a laminar flow cabinet

A laminar flow cabinet protects the product only and provides no protection for the operator or the environment. If you work with infectious or otherwise hazardous material, always choose a biological safety cabinet Class II with its triple protection.
