Medical trolleys and computer carts for healthcare

A medical trolley brings the computer workstation to the point of care. At the bedside, in the corridor or in the treatment room: with a mobile computer trolley you register directly with the patient. This avoids re-typing, reduces the risk of errors and saves walking time. Poly Temp Scientific supplies medical trolleys by Athena and Ergotron, for every workflow and budget.

  • Motorised and gas-spring trolleys: infinitely height-adjustable for sitting and standing work.
  • Laptop carts: compact and manoeuvrable for documentation on the move.
  • Powered carts with battery: a full shift of mobile power supply.
  • Modular: drawers, device holders and scanner holders as required.
  • Hygienic: easily cleanable, sealed materials for healthcare.

Which medical trolleys do we supply?

Our range runs from a light laptop cart to a full motorised medication workstation.

Athena medical trolleys

The Athena AMT500 is the cost-effective entry model: infinitely height-adjustable with gas spring and foot pedal, with a built-in battery. The compact Athena AMT160 is made for narrow corridors and small spaces and has an extra-strong 40 Ah LiFePO4 battery. The flagship is the Athena AMT200: motorised height adjustment, DIN rails for drawers and holders, and expandable to a complete medication workstation with a 24 inch medical PC.

Ergotron StyleView and CareFit carts

From Ergotron we supply the StyleView and CareFit lines. The StyleView SV10 and CareFit Slim are manoeuvrable laptop carts for documentation on the move. The StyleView SV41 documentation cart and SV42 powered cart offer a full mobile workstation with power supply for long shifts.

Key features of a medical trolley

When choosing a laptop cart or computer trolley, our specialists look at four points.

  • Battery: a strong battery keeps the mobile workstation available for a full shift.
  • Height adjustment: with a gas spring or motor you switch effortlessly between sitting and standing work.
  • Hygiene: easily cleanable materials and sealed surfaces are essential in healthcare.
  • Modularity: drawers, device holders and scanner holders grow with your workflow.

Which trolley suits your application?

For documentation with a laptop, a compact laptop cart such as the SV10 or CareFit Slim is sufficient. If you work with an all-in-one PC and medication drawers, choose a full medical trolley such as the Athena AMT200 or Ergotron SV42. For tight departments the compact AMT160 is the best choice, and for a limited budget the AMT500.

Applications by sector

A medical trolley can be used anywhere care and registration come together.

Hospitals and nursing wards: the medication round and EHR registration directly at the bedside, with a powered cart that lasts the shift.

Treatment and outpatient clinics: a manoeuvrable laptop cart for documentation during consultations.

Laboratory and pharmacy: a mobile workstation for sample registration, inventory management and logistics.

Home care and extramural care: light, compact carts for flexible use at changing locations.

Frequently asked questions about medical trolleys

What is a medical trolley?

A medical trolley is a mobile computer workstation for healthcare. Monitor or laptop, keyboard and accessories sit on a height-adjustable base with wheels, so caregivers register directly with the patient.

What is the difference between a laptop cart and a computer trolley?

A laptop cart carries a laptop and is compact and light. A computer trolley carries a full PC workstation with monitor, often with battery, drawers and holders. The choice depends on your workflow.

How long does a trolley run on the battery?

That varies per model and use. The Athena trolleys are designed to last a full shift; the AMT160 and AMT200 have an extra-strong 40 Ah LiFePO4 battery with LED status indicator for this.

Can medical trolleys be disinfected?

Yes. The trolleys are built from easily cleanable materials such as aluminium, stainless steel and plastic or MDF with a medical coating, resistant to common cleaning and disinfection agents.

Should I choose a gas spring or motorised height adjustment?

A gas spring is affordable and virtually maintenance-free; you adjust the workstation by hand or via a foot pedal. A motorised trolley such as the Athena AMT200 adjusts at the push of a button, even fully loaded.

Can I combine a trolley with a PC and scanner?

Yes. The Athena AMT200 is configured, for example, with a 24 inch medical all-in-one PC, medication drawers and a barcode scanner. This builds one complete registration workstation.

Which brands of medical trolley does Poly Temp supply?

We supply the Athena AMT series (AMT160, AMT200, AMT500) and the Ergotron StyleView and CareFit lines. This provides a suitable mobile workstation for every workflow and budget, with advice and service.
