The wrong rotor means your tubes will not fit or that you dry far fewer samples at once than you could. So choose first on the basis of your tube format and sample count, and take the solvents you use into account. This category holds every rotor and rotor block for the Savant SpeedVac, so you can match your concentrator exactly to your workflow.
A fixed-angle rotor holds the tubes at a set angle and is usually made of aluminium, which distributes heat well and speeds up drying. Open rotors are designed to hold a large number of tubes and are the logical choice when throughput matters more than speed per sample. For microcentrifuge tubes you often pick a fixed-angle or hexagonal rotor; if you need to dry hundreds of tubes per run, an open rotor from the RH series offers the most capacity.
Rotor blocks are separate blocks that hold different tubes or vials in a fixed microplate footprint. This lets you lift a complete set of samples in and out of the Savant SpeedVac in one go, which is handy for changing formats or automated work. The polypropylene RB blocks are lighter and cost-effective for general use. The aluminium RBA blocks offer better chemical resistance to aggressive solvents and dry faster and more evenly, because aluminium conducts heat better. If you work with strong solvents or want the shortest drying time, choose the aluminium version.
