Description

Hoshizaki FM flake ice machines produce loose flake ice for cooling applications. The range contains self-contained models with an integral storage bin and modular machines requiring a suitable separate bin or installation. Choose the model according to daily ice demand, peak usage and available space.

Capacity at your operating conditions

Ice production depends on ambient and incoming water temperature. For example, the FM-120KE-HC produces up to 125 kg per day at 10 °C air and water temperature, versus 105 kg at 21 °C air / 15 °C water. Its 26 kg storage bin is a separate figure from daily production. The example specifications below do not apply to the whole range.

Installation and hygiene

Refrigerant, condenser cooling and connections vary by exact model. The selection includes HC and older R452-designated articles; they must not all be described as R290 units. Follow the applicable installation and cleaning instructions. A flake ice maker does not by itself supply sterile ice or establish suitability for direct patient treatment. For laboratory workflows, evaluate ice quality and handling within your own process.

Frequently asked questions

Is daily production the same as storage capacity?

No. Daily production describes how much ice can be made under specified test conditions. Storage capacity describes how much ice the bin holds at one time. Both must match your workflow.

Do all FM models include a storage bin?

No. Self-contained versions have an integral bin; modular models need a suitable separate storage or installation arrangement. Confirm this for the selected article.

Do all listed machines use R290?

No. Refrigerant is model-specific. The FM-120KE-HC uses R290, but the model list also contains older R452-designated variants. Check the exact documentation and nameplate.

Can this machine be used as a source of sterile medical ice?

Do not assume that. The ice maker alone does not validate sterile ice or direct patient use. Water quality, cleaning, handling and the intended process require their own assessment.

Which details are needed for a quotation?

Specify the daily and peak ice demand, ambient and water temperatures, available space, water supply and drain, and whether a storage bin is required. Include the intended cooling process.
