The n-Laf NPU is a containment booth with a laminar airflow ceiling and internal recirculation of the air through the rear wall. This powder handling booth is designed for safe handling of powders and for sampling, protecting the product, the operator and the surrounding environment at the same time. As a laminar downflow booth, the NPU works on the same principle as a biosafety cabinet class II, but on a larger scale, so you can carry out larger components, vessels and operations inside the protected zone.
The air is pushed downward in a laminar flow through HEPA H14 filters from the top and is then drawn in through the rear wall to recirculate over the H14 filters again. A small part of the air is exhausted to the room or the HVAC system, while exactly the same amount is drawn in along the floor to protect the environment. This balance between downflow and exhaust ensures stable containment, so powder dust cannot escape to the workspace. The down flow is 0.30 m/s and is adjustable between 0.1 and 0.6 m/s.
This powder booth provides triple protection. The laminar H14 filtered downward flow keeps the product clean and protects your powders and samples against airborne particles. At the same time, the airflow drawn in along the floor protects the operator and the environment against exposure to the handled powder. Prefilters of class G3 or G4 capture coarser particles and extend the service life of the H14 final filters, which keeps maintenance simple and predictable.
The NPU can be equipped with a work table, fixed or electrically adjustable, which can optionally be ventilated with process air for extra extraction at the source. As an option, an induction barrier is available in the form of soft curtains, strips or sliding polycarbonate plates, which reduce opening losses and further improve containment. The powder weighing booth can be built in any required size, so the booth fits your process and space exactly.
The n-Laf NPU is equipped with the latest fan and filter technology for low energy consumption. Because the air largely recirculates internally and only a small part is exhausted, the energy loss to the HVAC system stays limited. The standard sizes include the NPU 2000 x 1400 mm, the NPU 4100 x 2900 mm and the NPU 3400 x 3000 mm, while any other size is available on request.
