n-Safe MCCU: safe cage changing with optimal ergonomics

The n-Safe MCCU is a mobile cage changing unit for the safe changing of rodent cages. This cage changing station combines full operator protection with well thought out ergonomics, so animal care staff work comfortably and without exposure to allergens or pathogens. As a mobile cage changing unit, it brings protection to the animals instead of moving the animals to a fixed workstation.

Full operator protection and EN 12469 compliant

The MCCU provides full operator protection and is EN 12469 compliant. Even with both sides open, the inflow remains higher than 0.42 m/s, so allergens and aerosols cannot escape to the room. The down flow of 0.28 m/s (adjustable between 0.25 and 0.38 m/s) creates a stable air curtain above the work surface. Dual ventilated work surfaces prevent cross contamination between the left and right side, which is essential when keeping animal lines and studies separate.

H14 filtration and optional activated carbon filter

Both supply and exhaust air are filtered with H14 filters, for the highest assurance against particles and biological agents. An optional activated carbon filter on the exhaust is available to capture carcinogenic gases and odours. The prefilter cassettes are easy to exchange, which keeps maintenance fast and safe.

Ergonomics, mobility and comfort in use

Weighing less than 200 kg, this cage changing station is light and mobile on low noise castors, one pair of which is lockable. The base is electrically height adjustable and programmable per user, so every operator works at the correct height. The dimmable LED lighting is adjustable from 0 to 1500 Lux. This animal facility workstation is also very quiet at less than 52 dB(A), which reduces stress for both animal and operator.

Two working widths and practical options

The n-Safe MCCU is available as the MCCU 1300 with 1045 mm working width and as the MCCU 1600 with 1345 mm working width. Optional accessories include an autoclavable stainless steel feed dispenser and a battery backup, which keeps the unit running without mains power during transport or a power outage. Worldwide remote support ensures fast assistance from a distance.
