Description

DNA130 vacuum concentrator from Thermo Scientific

The Savant SpeedVac DNA130 vacuum concentrator from Thermo Scientific is a compact, integrated benchtop solution for the fast and safe concentration of DNA and RNA samples. By combining centrifugal force, vacuum and controlled heat, the system evaporates solvents efficiently without damaging samples or causing them to boil over.

Why choose the SpeedVac DNA130?

  • The smallest integrated benchtop model in the SpeedVac family (only 29 cm wide)
  • Built-in oil-free ETFE diaphragm pump, no oil maintenance required
  • Maximum vacuum of less than 10 Torr (13 mbar) for fast evaporation
  • Temperature range from ambient to 65°C in 5°C increments
  • Three modifiable programs with separate timers for heat and run time
  • USB data export for traceability and quality reporting
  • PTFE-coated corrosion-resistant chamber for years of service
  • RD36 rotor included as standard (36 × 1.5-2.0 mL microtubes)

The smallest integrated benchtop SpeedVac model

At only 29 centimeters wide, the DNA130 is the most compact integrated model in the Savant SpeedVac family. As a result, you save valuable bench space without compromising on performance. Furthermore, the PTFE-coated aluminum chamber is corrosion-resistant and built to last for years, even under intensive use.

Oil-free vacuum pump for low-maintenance operation

The built-in oil-free ETFE diaphragm pump delivers an ultimate vacuum level of less than 10 Torr (13 mbar). Because no pump oil is required, maintenance tasks such as oil changes and refills are eliminated. In addition, the pump ensures a gentle transition from atmospheric pressure to the set vacuum level, which prevents solvent bumping (sample boil-over).

Suitable for DNA, RNA and oligo preparations

The DNA130 is optimized for ethanol, water and buffers, the standard solvents used in molecular biology work. The temperature range from ambient to 65°C in 5°C increments is ideal for drying nucleic acids, PCR preparations and synthetic oligos. For ammonium hydroxide vapors generated during oligo work, the external post-trap neutralizes the vapors for a safe working environment. Moreover, an optional chemical trap kit is available for handling radioactive samples.

Three programmable presets and USB data export

Three modifiable preset programs store temperature, run time and heat time settings for reproducible results. In addition, the separate timer settings for heat and run time provide full control over your process. Furthermore, you download live run data via the USB port for traceability and reporting.

Safety and ease of use

The transparent acrylic lid with safety lock visually confirms that the lid is securely closed before the run starts. Subsequently, the lid-stay mechanism holds the lid open so you have both hands free to load samples. Finally, an audible alarm signals when the cycle is complete.

What’s in the box?

The DNA130-230 is supplied with the RD36 rotor for 36 microtubes of 1.5-2.0 mL. Additional rotors are available separately: RD24 (24 tubes), RD48 (48 × 0.5 mL), RD72 (72 × 0.5 mL) and RD2MP for shallow well microplates.

Which laboratories use the DNA130?

The DNA130 is used in molecular biology laboratories, life sciences, biotech, academic research and the pharmaceutical industry. Typical applications include DNA/RNA precipitation, PCR sample preparation and synthetic oligos. Would you like advice on the right SpeedVac for your application? What is the SpeedVac DNA130 used for?

The DNA130 is used for concentrating and drying DNA, RNA and protein samples in aqueous solvents. Typical applications include DNA/RNA precipitation, PCR sample preparation and protein concentration in small series.

What is the difference between the DNA130 and the SPD1030?

The DNA130 is the smallest integrated model with a capacity of 36 microtubes and a temperature range up to 65°C. By contrast, the SPD1030 has a capacity of 120 microtubes, a higher temperature range up to 80°C and adjustable vacuum level and ramp rate. Furthermore, the SPD1030 features a radiant lamp that accelerates evaporation.

Which solvents can I use with the DNA130?

The DNA130 is suitable for aqueous solvents such as water, ethanol and buffers. For aggressive organic solvents or acids, you choose a larger modular system such as the SPD140DDA or SPD300DDA.

Which rotor is included with the DNA130?

The RD36 rotor is included as standard, suitable for 36 microtubes of 1.5-2.0 mL. For alternative sample formats, additional rotors are available.

Does the DNA130 fit in a fume hood?

Yes, with a width of 29 cm the DNA130 is designed to fit in a standard laboratory fume hood.

Is data export possible?

Yes, via the USB port you download live run data for traceability and quality reporting.
