The Savant SpeedVac SPD1030 integrated vacuum concentrator from Thermo Scientific is a fully integrated benchtop system that combines the concentrator, refrigerated cold trap, diaphragm pump and vacuum gauge in a single compact unit. As a result, you dry and concentrate aqueous and non-aggressive samples quickly and efficiently, without external components or tubing connections.
Unlike modular SpeedVacs, the SPD1030 requires no setup or connections. The concentrator, refrigerated cold trap, oil-free PTFE diaphragm pump and vacuum gauge are all housed in a single compact unit. Consequently, there is no need to install tubing, calibrate components or troubleshoot leaks. Furthermore, every system is factory-tested for vacuum integrity before it reaches your lab.
The built-in oil-free PTFE diaphragm pump (2-headed, 30 L/min @ 50 Hz) delivers an ultimate vacuum level of less than 10 Torr (13 mbar, 1.3 kPa). Because no pump oil is required, maintenance tasks such as oil changes, oil filters and oil mist eliminator replacement are eliminated. In addition, vacuum ramping and pressure control prevent sample bumping at the start of the cycle.
The SPD1030 processes up to 120 × 1.5-2.0 mL microtubes per run with the RH120-11 rotor. Moreover, more than 20 rotor options are available for other sample formats: 10 × 15 mL centrifuge tubes, 6 × 50 mL centrifuge tubes, glass and plastic tubes (12 × 75 mm up to 17.5 × 102 mm), vials, microplates and even 100 mL pear-shaped flasks. In this way, the SPD1030 integrates with your existing sample formats.
The SPD1030 is designed for aqueous and non-aggressive organic solvents. Typical solvents include water, ethanol, methanol, isopropanol, acetonitrile and buffers. Therefore, the instrument is ideal for DNA and RNA precipitates, PCR sample preparation, oligonucleotide synthesis, protein and peptide concentration, HPLC fractions and metabolite research. For aggressive solvents such as DMSO, methylene chloride, TFA or strong acids and bases, choose a modular system such as the SPD140DDA or SPD300DDA.
The bright digital control panel offers 3 preset programs and 3 user-defined programs. Per program, you set the temperature, run time, heat time, ramp rate (1 to 5) and vacuum level (30 to 5.1 Torr in 0.1 Torr increments) separately. Two independent timers for heat and run cycle provide full control over the process. Subsequently, you save your settings for reproducible results and download live run data via the USB port.
The radiant glass cover with soft-close mechanism and lid lock indicator visually confirms that the instrument is securely closed before the run starts. In addition, the pre-heat button allows you to bring the chamber up to temperature before loading samples. The radiant lamp above the lid accelerates evaporation and prevents condensation on the cover.
The SPD1030 is available in three configurations: as a standalone unit, as a kit with flask cover (SPD1030A), and as a complete starter kit with rotor and CryoCool (SPD1030P1). This way, you choose the configuration that matches your application and budget. Rotors are available separately for alternative sample formats.
The SPD1030 is used in life sciences, biotech, molecular biology, proteomics, drug discovery and the pharmaceutical industry. Typical applications include DNA/RNA precipitation, PCR sample preparation, protein and peptide concentration after HPLC, and metabolite research. Integrated SpeedVac vacuum concentrator for aqueous and non-aggressive solvents. Complete system with concentrator, refrigerated cold trap, oil-free pump and vacuum gauge in a single housing. Medium capacity up to 120 microtubes, fits in a standard fume hood. Available in three configurations: standalone, kit with flask cover, or complete starter kit with rotor.

The SPD1030 is used to concentrate and dry samples in aqueous and non-aggressive solvents. Typical applications include DNA/RNA precipitation, PCR sample preparation, oligonucleotide synthesis, protein and peptide concentration, HPLC fractions and metabolite research.
The DNA130 is the smallest integrated model with a capacity of 36 microtubes and a temperature range up to 65°C. By contrast, the SPD1030 has a capacity of 120 microtubes, a higher temperature range up to 80°C, a refrigerated cold trap and adjustable vacuum level (30 to 5.1 Torr) and ramp rate. Furthermore, the SPD1030 features a radiant lamp that accelerates evaporation.
The SPD1030 is suitable for aqueous and non-aggressive organic solvents such as water, ethanol, methanol, isopropanol, acetonitrile and buffers. For aggressive solvents such as DMSO, methylene chloride, TFA or strong acids and bases, you choose a modular system such as the SPD140DDA or SPD300DDA.
All three contain the same SPD1030 unit (concentrator, cold trap, pump). The SPD1030-230 is the standalone unit with glass condensation flask. The SPD1030A-230 is a kit with flask cover (FC400) added. The SPD1030P1-230 is a complete starter kit including rotor (RH40-11), CryoCool heat transfer fluid and condensation flask, ready for immediate use.
The RH40-11 rotor is included as standard with the SPD1030P1, suitable for 40 microtubes of 1.5-2.0 mL. For alternative sample formats, more than 20 additional rotors are available, including the RH120-11 for 120 microtubes, RH6-50 for 50 mL conical tubes and RH4-100 for 100 mL pear-shaped flasks.
Yes, with dimensions of 64 × 66 × 41 cm the SPD1030 is designed to fit in a standard laboratory fume hood. A clearance of 8 cm on all sides is required for ventilation.
Yes, via the USB port you download live run data for traceability, reporting and GMP-compliant quality documentation.
230 VAC / 50 Hz, 6 amperes. The plug is a SCHUKO standard European plug and fits directly into Dutch wall sockets.
Depending on the rotor, the SPD1030 processes up to 120 × 1.5-2.0 mL microtubes (with the RH120-11), 72 × 12 mm tubes (RH72-12), 32 × 13 × 100 mm tubes (RH32-13), 10 × 15 mL conical tubes (RH10-15) or 6 × 50 mL conical tubes (RH6-50). Furthermore, microplate adapters and flask rotors are available.
