The Thermo Scientific Lindberg Blue M Moldatherm box furnace is designed for industrial laboratories handling diverse sample volumes up to 1100 °C. As a result, this model is available in four capacities: 2 liter, 5.3 liter, 18.4 liter, and 42.5 liter. Specifically, each model combines patented Moldatherm ceramic fiber insulation with self-tuning PID control, delivering fast heatup without temperature overshoot. Furthermore, this configuration provides uniformity of ± 2.0 °C at 1100 °C across the entire range.

Patented Moldatherm insulation

The unique feature of this line is the Moldatherm insulation, a ceramic fiber composite with rapid heatup and cooldown properties. Specifically, the furnace can run continuously at its maximum temperature without damaging the insulation. As a result, this furnace type suits production environments with intensive use cycles. Furthermore, the unique insulation and heating element composites minimize the outer surface temperature, increasing operator safety.

Two controller choices per capacity

Furthermore, each capacity offers a choice of two PID microprocessor controllers, both with adjustable high-limit OTP:

  • Single program controller (suffix C-1): Digital single program control with 8 segments and an additional dwell timer, delay timer, or soft start timer. Specifically suited for applications with one structured thermal profile.
  • Programmable controller (suffix 8C-1): Digital 5-program control with 16 segments per program. As a result, you can store and recall up to five different thermal profiles. In addition, it is also available with an RS-485 communications port (suffix COMC-1) for remote monitoring and data logging from a PC.

Standard accessories

Each Moldatherm box furnace ships with a long-life Type K thermocouple, a removable and replaceable Moldatherm hearth plate, and a power cord (except for the 42.5 liter model that requires hardwiring). As a result, the Moldatherm hearth plate protects the chamber bottom from damage caused by spilled samples and can be easily replaced if it wears.

Note: the 42.5 liter model (BF51728C-1, BF51828C-1, BF51828COMC-1) requires hardwiring by a qualified technician and ships without plug and power cord.
