The Thermo Scientific Vios iDx CO2 Incubator is available with 165 or 255 litre gross chamber volume. With THRIVE Active Airflow, HEPA filtration and Steri-Run sterilization, you culture sensitive cells under stable, reproducible conditions with minimal contamination risk.
The Thermo Scientific Vios iDx CO2 Incubator delivers stable culturing conditions for sensitive cell cultures. You choose between a gross chamber volume of 165 or 255 litre, matched to your throughput and available floor space. Additionally, each model combines fast recovery after door openings with a low contamination risk. As a result, your cells grow under constant, reproducible conditions.
The 165 litre model fits ideally in laboratories with limited space and supports Cell Locker Systems for added sample protection. The 255 litre model offers more culturing capacity and accommodates CultiMaxx Shelving Systems for scale-up. Moreover, you stack two incubators with a stacking adapter kit, so you add capacity without extra floor space.
THRIVE Active Airflow technology distributes filtered, conditioned air evenly throughout the chamber. Therefore, all critical growth parameters recover within ten minutes after a 30-second door opening. Moreover, the in-chamber fan maintains a uniform temperature, CO2 concentration and humidity on every shelf.
The in-chamber HEPA filtration reaches ISO Class 5 air quality within five minutes after a 30-second door opening. Subsequently, the system filters the entire chamber volume every 60 seconds. Furthermore, the Steri-Run high-temperature sterilization eliminates microbial contamination with a 12-log sterility assurance at 180 °C across all internal surfaces.
You choose between the IR180Si infrared sensor with silicon MEMS technology or the TC180 sensor for everyday cell culture. The integrated, covered 3-litre water reservoir maximizes relative humidity without condensation. Thus, the chamber stays dry and you limit contamination in the water.
The 7-inch touchscreen displays all chamber conditions at a glance. The electromagnetic door lock protects your samples as standard. Additionally, you select the electropolished stainless steel or 100% pure copper inner chamber. Copper actively combats contamination and stays easy to clean with mild detergent and 70% ethanol.

The main difference is capacity: the 165 litre model is more compact and supports Cell Locker Systems, whereas the 255 litre model offers more culturing space and accommodates CultiMaxx Shelving Systems. Both models share the same proven platform.
You choose between the IR180Si infrared sensor and the TC180 sensor. The IR180Si is recommended for GMP environments and studies with frequent door openings, whereas the TC180 performs excellently for everyday cell culture.
Stainless steel reduces bacterial attachment through electropolishing and is robust. Copper actively combats contamination through oxidation and stays easy to clean. Therefore, you choose copper mainly in busy research laboratories.
